Much of the time, opening the Command Prompt as a regular user is all you need. Sometimes, though, you'll need to open the Control Prompt as an administrator and then that you can run commands that require administrative privileges.

Windows offers a lot of different means to open the Command Prompt, and with a lot of those methods, you tin can as well open the Command Prompt with admin privileges. We've shown y'all previously how to do this in Windows 7 and Vista, so here nosotros're going to focus on three quick means y'all can open the Command Prompt with admin privileges in Windows eight and 10.

Option I: Apply the Kickoff Menu

You lot can as well open an administrative Command Prompt using simply the Start carte (or Start screen in Windows viii). Hitting Start, type "command," and you'll see "Command Prompt" listed as the main issue. Right-click that result and cull "Run as ambassador."

Right-click the Command Prompt shortcut and select "Run as administrator."
